Pictures from Coe

I stole some Trog pics from the Coe thread on mtbr.  It was good and cold at the bottom of the canyon.  Ice had formed in some of the larger pools.  We had fun throwing rocks up in the air and watching them either bounce of the ice, or if they were big enough, crash through sending a fountain of water spouting up.  The things that amuse a group of grown men.

I bailed and pulled a shorter loop than the others.  The climb out just about killed me.  That climb used to be a whole lot easier.

Another great article by Joe Lindsay about the ins and outs of the Tyler case.

Alley Catting in LA

Our pal Hollywood throws up another photojournalistic tale of his bicycle adventures in SoCal.

Tyler gets fired

And Phonak can't race, so what is Floyd going to do?  Landis left Postal to ride for Phonak.  This really sucks.

Thanksgiving Day Ride

It's always nice to see everyone out for the biggest ride of the year.  Biggest meaning that all those people who you haven't seen all year long show up to ride.  There were 40-50 riders out there.  I saw all kinds of bikes.  Road, mtb, cross country, downhill, geared, SS, cruisers, full suspension, hardtails, cross and bmx.  It's a great day to pedal with the family.

Now, if you came out to 'ride' you might have been disappointed.  There is twice as much stopping and talking as there is riding.  And afterwards, eating and drinking.  Dave from DH Cycles and his wife were in attendance and they busted out a a big ass baked ham, with cheese and crackers.  Everyone's jaw kind of dropped and then they dug in.  Augie and Lisa had a spread of sandwiches, deviled eggs, hot coco and more.  Cyclemasters Steve had a spread of sweets and cookies.  I'm not sure there is anything better than baked ham and Oreos on a cold November morning.

As luck would have it, I got there, took 3 pictures, and my batteries died in the camera.  There were plenty of cameras there to capture the event.  It took us 10 minutes to take the group photo since we kept having to rotate through the various cameras.  If someone has pictures they'd like to share, email them to me at king.georgec@gmail.com and I'll post them on the page.  I'd especially like a big group photo.  Even if it's in two parts I can stitch it together into one big pic.

Happy Thanksgiving.

A little crash video

A little reminder of why you shouldn't try anything that is too stupid.

Hamilton Comes out Swinging

Believe Tyler, don't believe Tyler, that's up to you.  But Tyler has come out with a statement concerning his side.  The ripples of Tyler testing positive for someone else's blood has effects far beyond Tyler himself.  Floyd Landis, who signed with Tyler's team Phonak, may suffer because the future of Phonak is in question.

Useless information

I'm not much of a drinker but some Trogs have been known to throw a few down.  Here's an interesting way to turn cheap vodka into something drinkable.  In fact, it sounds like something the budge minded Alex would love to try.

Epic Rides

The Warrior Society has it's annual epic rides open for registrations.  Vision Quest (5and Counting Coup (40+ miles), each epic in it's own right.  I've been tempted to sign up for this but I so far out of shape right now it doesn't look doable.  March.....  maybe I can get in good enough shape to survive.

I'm such a slacker.  I can't believe how sore my 'taint is from that little road ride I did up the canyon.  I was test riding my 'new' ride and I felt the tenderness that comes from sitting on the couch.

I'll either be on this bike, or the cruiser on the Thanksgiving Day ride at Dry Creek.

O'Grady rants are getting sad.  I think he's become too bitter to be funny any more.

Speaking of bitterness.  Have you seen these?    I do think they're funny

Don't get me wrong.  I like the LiveStrong Bracelets.  I've gone through a couple and I'm always looking for others.  I'm glad for every one that is sold and for all the money that is raised for the LAF.  Anyway I have a few LiveWrong Bracelets coming. I have a few extras so get a hold of me if you think you may want one.

Thanksgiving Day ride

This has been a local tradition for years.  Thanksgiving morning, before you pig out and get all sleepy, go for a quick and easy spin along the Dry Creek Trails.  Bring any type of bike you want, road, mountain, single speed, cruizer or whatever.  All ages welcome.  Expect plenty of stops and socializing.

Meet at the Park on E. Morris Ave. at around 8:30 so we can be rolling by 9am.
After the ride, hand around a little bit if you can and share some food.  Bring some snacks, crack a beer and say hello.

safety reasons.(bikes are ok) The parade begins at 5pm The theme of
the parade is "Where Dreams Come True"

*They encourage you to use VERY LOUD MUSIC and have and organization
banner.

I'd like to take the time to thank this years parade sponsor "The Bike Shop" in Salida.  Bring your bike covered in lights.  You don't have to be a regular Trog rider.  Just show up with your bike decorated and lights everywhere.  Dress up all Xmassy but remember, you can't dress up like Santa.

Local Pro Suspended

Dave Fuentes has been suspended from competing in cycling for 2 years.  I believe Dave is originally from Merced or Atwater.  I may be wrong.

IMBA at New Hogan

I feel really bad that I didn't have this up on the site before hand, but IMBA's trail crew showed up to do some work at New Hogan.  A handful of people helped out to do some trail work.  Finch Platte pitched in and even provided some pics of the work.

Dirt Jumpin' at Matt's 2004

Check out the pictures from Sunday's Dirt Jump Comp. Matt put in the time and built up some jumps at his property,  Steve from SWD Racing, and Gary from Cyclemasters kicked down for some food and beer.  The sun was out and the sky was blue.  Steve used the day to introduce the new SWD rider Melissa Miller.  Watch for her riding one of Steve's frames at the Sea Otter and other races this year.  Chris Quintero showed up to hit the jumps and ended up being the grill master.  Let's do it again next year!!  Don't forget to thank Matt for coming up with the idea and providing the dirt.
