New Bike Shop

During my rounds of xmas shopping and mall hopping drudgery I noticed that there is a new bike shop on Dale Rd. in Modesto. Pro Service Cyclerly

I took the oportuninity to stop inside and check it out.  It's a nice big shop.  I didn't really check everything out but I talked to the owner for a bit.  His name is Christian and the shop used to be in Manteca.  He seems like a nice guy.  He mentioned that if he'd give any Trog a discount, so if you're shopping for something, mention that you ride with the Trogs and you can save.

I believe Tony and The Bike Shop will do the same but DO NOT quote me on that, I know he's done it in the past for certain Trogs, I just don't know if it's available for all Trogs.  But anyway, it's always nice to see another shop open up in the area that supports cycling.  And Christian, if you read this, you're welcome to join the Trogs email list, we welcome the addition, let us know when you get your website up and running.

As always, I do my shopping at Cyclemasters at Turlock, Gary has been supporting cycling for years, I hear he ahs a website coming soon too.

The New Race Season

The Early Birds are only a week away, the first one is January 7th.  Plus the Del Puerto Canyon Road Race is on the 27th.  Velo Prom has it's most of it's early schedule up, Road, and Mountain bike.  The NCNCA site also has their full schedule up which includes all the Velopromo races and others.

But that's not all.  Central Coast Cyclo Cross (CCCX) has their 2007 races up and listed too, and it's not just cyclocross, this now inclueds their moutain bike XC races and DH races.

I've just been recently hearing about the CCCX DH series at Toro park from Steve Delay.  Matty N. from Cyclemasters had just recently cherry picked himself a win in the SS category of the last DH race of the series.  He raced his urban bash bike and ended up winning the SS category.  He wasn't entered in the category but after his run he switched cats (because he really was in a single speed) and ended up having the best time.

From this link

We are interested in what MORCA users call specific routes (at Fort Ord). We will also be soliciting name suggestions from fire, medical and emergency personnel; other bikers, hikers and equestrians. We would like to hear from you with your suggestions by January 14, 2006. Feel free to send your route names to me at emorgan@ca.blm.gov

Here are the administrative access routes that we need name suggestions
for:

December 8th

As I sit here thinking about the Trogs riding in Red Hills in the rain tomorrow, and knowing that I can't go, I come across this little challenge.

30 Rides in 30 Days

It sounds simple enough, ride at least one hour a day for 30 days in a row, riding to run errands does NOT count. I wonder how many days in a row I could do. At this point I don't think it'd be too many.

Give it a try and let me know how you did.

Post Ride Secret Menu

If you like to eat after a ride like I do, then you might give yourself special permision to indulge. Maybe a 'Double Double' from In-N-Out, and to show you know your way around an the place, you order from the In-N-Out secret menu and thell them you want it 'Animal Style'.

Well, if next time you want to do yourself a little better than the ol greasy hamberger, grab a post ride Jamba Juice, and go for their secret menu selections too. I heard about the Jamba Secret Menu but wasn't sure it was real. Well, I can now confirm it is. Next time you're at the Jamba, try one of these....from wiki.

White Gummi Bear [Now Known as White Gummi because of trademark laws]
Red Gummi Bear
Green Gummi Bear
Pink Starburst [known as Pink Star because of trademark laws]
Raspberry Dreamin'
Pineapple Dreamin'
Sourpatch Kid
Tropical Tango
Pacific Passion
Berry Depressing
Now and Later
Peanut Butter and Jelly
Apple Pie
Fruity Pebbles
Rainbow Sherbert
Strawberry Shortcake
Skittles
Andres' Surprise
Lemonade Lightnin'
Mochi

I can confirm that the White and Red Gummies do exist since that's what I ordered today. The register girl knew exactly what I was talking about, and "White Gummy" appeared on the register. And to tell the truth, they did taste like gummy bears.
