I've ridden in the rain.... the only trail that won't get mangled by the rain is Red Hills.

i rode at hogan today. made it about 15 miles out on my single speed and 15 back. lol. it was a lil mudy on the cow trails after the gate but the rest of the trail was amazing. perfect conditions. wish some of you could have joined me.

i was just wondering, have any of you rode around the whole lake?? we were thinkin it'd be a fun ride to get together. i think its about a 50 mile ride. with a little bit of walking.

anyone wanna ride tomorrow??

I was at hogan this morning also.  We did a short ride (had a friend who has only rode a few times). 7 maybe 8 miles. (whatever it is to the second gate along the lake and back).  After 4 years just bought some shoes and clipless pedals and thought i would try them out at hogan. Thats a whole different experience.  Did not feel nearly as confident as i do with the platform and t-shoes.   Hopefully I get used to them.

Trail was great.

yea, i kno what you mean about riding clipless. lol. i just got mine a month or so ago. im still getting used to them. but there is such a crazy difference when climbing with them. especially on my single speed. its awesome. lol
don't worry, u'll get used to them.

i had a friend that decided to run clipless and go to hogan the first day having them on her bike. she ended up cartwheeling down the hill and getting stopped by a rock. i told her not to go, but she didn't listen to me. lol

In the bad old days (the '80's) we used to ride our hard tails and hard forks with toes clips and straps.  Sure glad technology has more than kept pace with the aging process...  If you are just getting started with clipless pedals on trail, be sure to back off the tension as far as you can, thereby facilitating panic unclipping.  Happy trails!

Glad to see people are riding Hogan- I have done a bunch or trail work. that is pruning, already this year.  I have been riding and working on this trial for about 13 years or so  thanks for riding it.  I wish more would ride it and put in some work.  The trail is in great shape even if ti rains but it needs trimming. Ride it hard and you can get a good work even in a short distance. Not too may of the original builders around any more.

U.S.  thanks for the trail, it has been good to me.

Tom, thanks for the advice.  I have already had to do a little shoe trimmage, and am going to trim more.  I panzied out and got the platform clipless so I can use the cleated side for any thing that i am not comfortable on.  I have already almost had a few fall overs on stupid things, but i guess it is probably one of those nostalgic right of passage bad balance things.

Nothing panzied about the clipless/flats.  I've used them for years.  I like being able to ride the bike without having to have clipless shoes and just prefer the wider platform...  especially in sloppy conditions.
